You will need a suitable h264/x264 codec installed on your puter or just get VLC Media Player [link] available for most platforms - and I recommend turning on the motion blur option when watching, it just makes everything "flow" so much smoother :D

Well, my winter blahs appear to be over.  Those short days seem to depress the hell out of me,  but the days are now indeed longer and I seem to have my "passion" back.  The only cold I wanna see right now comes in a brown bottle :D :D :D

My PC has been busy rendering frames for my next apo animation (preview [link] but I had to break it down in manageable sessions since the thing would require 4 solid non-stop days to do it in one go and that is just unacceptable since that would get in the way of my new found addiction - Stepmania [link]!!! :D :D :D   

Only have 1200/4200 frames rendered so far so it'll be a few days yet :/

Thanks to everyone who :+fav:d - I appreciate every single one but sadly I cannot thank each one personally. :(

Yet another setback.  I now have to re-render 600 @$?&ing frames because of a careless mistake I made in a keyframe that caused a sudden "pop" in the animation (forgot to set the Julia3D power to the same value, you can't gradually morph a power variable).  That's 10 hours down the crapper.

on WebDesignerDepot.com [link] .  I was completely unaware of it - I only found out via a pm I received informing me of possible theft of my work but I just want to clarify to all that I'm perfectly OK with the feature as only lo-res versions are being displayed with link-backs to my original page.

Some fellow Deviant's artwork is also featured - whether or not they gave their blessings is unknown,  BUT if you ARE one of them,  do realize that the feature is getting a lot of DIGG.COM traffic (594 diggs at time of this journal update). Do not underestimate the power of the Digg.  

Walter (of webdesignerdepot.com) sent me a pm earlier informing me of his possible faux-pas and apologized and I replied that I am completely OK with it.

Re-rendered Fleur d'Apo + apologies

I recently took the time to re-render Fleur d'Apo from the original posted dimensions of 1600x1600 pixels to 2560x2560 pixels.  This should be adequate for 20"x20" prints.  I would have rendered higher rez, but my p.o.s. pc lacks the ram and horsepower to render that size in this lifetime lol.

Also,  my apologies if I have not thanked you for faving my work or responded to comments (again).  I DO appreciate all of the favs and comments,  but I lack the time due to IRL issues.  My sincerest thanks to everyone.

IF I don't have time to update my journal again this month,  I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season (Merry Christmas).

Daily Deviation... Oh my

Imagine my surprise and shock this morning when I logged in to DA - as I usually do before heading off to work - and seeing over 350 messages.  Still groggy,  I checked quickly and saw a long string of :+fav:s on my last work, "Fleur d'Apo" .  Not having enough time to investigate,  I left for work.
It was only at lunch time that I was able to get to the bottom of things and found out about the Daily Deviation. By this time (4 hours later), number of messages is 900+. Shock is quickly turning into horror as I realize that I will never be able to thank everyone individually  :D :D :D

soooooo  I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who fav'd "Fleur d'Apo" and who are still faving.  You all really made my day.  :) :) :)

A case of the "blahs"

Some of my watchers may have noticed my lack of contributions lately.  I'll be back when I can get some inspiration again.  Everything I've tried lately looks so same-ish to everything else I've done.  Blah.  Blah.  Blaaaaaaaaaaaaah. lol

On a related note,  I've been experimenting with Ultra Fractal and Tierazon.  I wasted 48 hours rendering an animation in Ultra Fractal that didn't do the color cycling I thought I had set   BLAAAAARGH!!!!!!  Back to square one.  Hahahahahaha.

Also,  WAAAAAAAAAY behind in checking messages and deviations - you can blame xbox for that  :p

Riddle solved

In a previous journal entry [link] I was puzzled why a render job of the same flame that had 16x the pixels of a previous render took 72x the amount of time to render.  

What I never took into account was that I had to render in "slices" because my crappy P.O.S. doesn't have enough memory to do a render of the size I attempted all in one go.  Well it seems that if you render in slices,  apophysis still does all the calculations for the ENTIRE image for each slice so if I render an image that is 2560x2560 pixels in 4 slices,  apo renders that full image 4 times but only saves 1/4 of that on each pass.


This case is closed,  I can now get some sleep.  :D



Also again I'd like to thank those that fav'd but I didn't get a chance to individually thank.  It's so easy to fall behind. :/  I really do appreciate it.
